Style: Luxury Hotel Perfect for: business, spa
Area: on the edge of the famed Red Square
For more than 200 years, Number 3 Tverskaya Street has remained a famed point of hospitality in the city of Moscow. Beginning as a popular tavern and lodge for travellers in the 18th century, it was also the site of the Hotel Paris until the 1930s - an establishment famous for its place in the hearts of many Russian writers and poets. From 1970 to 2002, the much-loved Intourist Hotel stood in its place, watching over the iconic Kremlin and Red Square as the former Soviet Union grew ever more affluent with the passing of time.

In 2007, the historic address was reborn as The Ritz-Carlton, Moscow, perhaps the most luxurious hotel that Russia has ever seen. Built at a cost of US$350 million - its dramatic exterior designed by renowned architectural heavyweights Mosproject - the building calls to mind the palatial forms of imperial Russian classicism. Inside, every guestroom and public space is a mix of striking modernity and vintage elegance handcrafted by the famous interior designer, Peter Silling. Rooms are some of the largest to be found in any hotel in Moscow and surely the most opulent.

Since opening, The Ritz-Carlton, Moscow has been accumulating various awards and accolades. The O2 Lounge in particular has been praised by several publications, including The Times (UK) 'World's 20 Best Sky Bars', various awards from Time Out Moscow and 'Top 50 Deserving Destinations' from GQ (UK). The ESPA Spa won both 'Spa Consumer's Favorite Spa in Russia' from SpaFinder's 2009 Readers' Choice Award (US) and the SENSES Award 2009 (Germany). Overall the hotel has been included in the prestigious line-up 'Tatler's 101 Best Hotels'.

The Red Square lies adjacent to the hotel, putting many famous landmarks such as the Lenin Mausoleum and St. Basil's Cathedral within walking distance. With its impressive first year on historic Tverskaya Street, The Ritz-Carlton, Moscow is destined to become a part of Moscow's reinvention as a renaissance city.

The incredibly stylish O2 Lounge remains the place to see and be seen in Moscow. Stepping out of the elevator, guests are met with a rooftop lounge and bar which is encased with a futuristic glass dome and floor-to-ceiling windows. The views are stunning - panoramic vistas of the famous St Basil's Cathedral, the Kremlin, the Spasskaya tower and the ...
