Style: Design hotel Perfect for: Meetings, private events, spa
Area: in the heart of the financial centre
Set on the corner of Wall and Water streets, Andaz Wall Street is the first Manhattan hotel that is truly at the heart of the Financial District. Converted from the old J.P. Morgan office building and designed by David Rockwell and Rockwell Group, Andaz Wall Street is setting a new tone of style and optimism in Lower Manhattan. The sculptural pearlescent steel and stone staircase links the public spaces, from the Andaz Studio level to the lounge, bar, and then to the restaurant. This design is integral to the hotel group's philosophy, as a fluid layout removes many of the barriers between guest and host.

The guestrooms are spacious with high ceilings and have a residential-style ambience with local artwork and dark stained oak floors. There are bay window seats for reading in and clever rotating wardrobe valets with full-length mirrors. Rather than the usual pillow menu, there is a 'Sleep Menu' and a generous mini-bar with complimentary non-alcoholic drinks and snacks.

Serving market-to-table comfort food, sourced from local Hudson Valley farms and markets, the restaurant features grey and alabaster marble floors that perfectly harmonise with the central marble bar where rustic ingredients are displayed, and small plates and desserts are crafted. This creates an all-embracing and welcoming environment where the living, breathing culinary space becomes an integral part of the guest experience.

For meetings and events, there is the Andaz Studio. Unlike regular meeting spaces, The Studio is a collection of residential-style conference rooms surrounding a communal kitchen and lounge area. After sessions in the breakout rooms, guests can dine at the chef's table adjacent to the Wall & Water open kitchen area to relax and have a bite to eat.

The Spa ingeniously fits right in with the local vibe - for example, clients who pop in on their lunch hour can leave with a bagged lunch, a complimentary Wall Street Journal and an optional suit 'touch up' and shoe-shine. For guests with more time, bespoke treatments are on offer - the therapists carefully conclude which course of action ...
