One of the world's great cities, London is a frenzied and diverse capital with a cornucopia of architectural wonders and rich heritage. As has been well documented, it is currently weathering the storm of the world-wide economic crisis that has seen the city's status as the world's pre-eminent financial centre tremble. London is currently gearing up for the 2012 Olympics, the sheer scale of which cannot be underestimated - an area equivalent to 357 football pitches under development, making it Europe's largest construction site.

London is currently the best served city by airports in the world with almost 150 million passengers using its five airports in 2005. In order of size, these airports are Heathrow, Gatwick, Stansted, Luton and London City.

Heathrow and Gatwick serve long-haul, European and domestic flights; Stansted and Luton cater primarily for low-cost European and domestic services, whilst London City caters for business passengers to short-haul and domestic destinations. There are plenty of ways to reach your destination from the airports, taxis are relatively expensive while frequent trains such as the Heathrow Express are an economical and speedy option.

Number one for business, London was voted the top city for the 20th year running in 2009, ranking first for easy access to markets, qualified staff, external and internal transport links, telecommunications, and languages spoken. The British don't tend to prepare for meetings, unless it's a client meeting, preferring the style of a debate and the chance to catch up -- often the outcome is the need for another meeting. There is normally an agenda, loosely followed and the British tend to be punctual.
